Our First Frosty

We have tried to build a snowman for the last couple of years (since Noah has been big enough to play in the snow), but we have had no such luck until this year. Here is our first "Frosty". The children were so proud of their creation. They named him O.E. Pauls. Unfortunately, O.E. lost his head a couple days later, but we had fun while it lasted. Thanks for allowing me to share this experience with you. Love!

Crisp Family Christmas Card thanks to Shutterfly

The Christmas planning has begun at the Crisp House. As you know we are a little crazy about the Christmas holiday and this year is no different. Our Christmas trees will begin going up this weekend (maybe before) and the Christmas shopping and gift wrapping is already in swing. Yes, I already have gifts wrapped. So, now I am on to another item on the To Do list - Christmas cards. Paul and I have used Shutterfly in the past to have pictures of Madison and Noah made and are really impressed with the quality and value. We even made a poster size picture of Madison when she was about 3 months old because we were so pleased with Shutterfly’s service…so this year we hand over the responsibility of our Christmas card to them.

There are so many great designs to choose from! (And you know that I really enjoy the design side of things because it is my job!) So many pumpkins! This is just before they dove in to find the pumpkin they will carve later.
We just love visiting Hainlen's Orchard this time of year!

This year we were able to take this adventure with cousin, Makayla.
The pumpkin by Madison's feet is the pumpkin she chose.

Noah Turns the BIG 5!

Noah kicks off his 5th year with a "How to Train Your Dragon" birthday party. This is a picture of Noah with his Grammy and Pappy. They are his GREAT grandparents. And they got him a Hiccup and Toothless shirt. (Two characters from the movie)

Noah's grandparents, Papaw and Grandmom got him the Little Big Planet game. As you can see he is pretty excited about it. He and his sister have already played a few rounds.

This is Noah's 5th Birthday cake. The dragon is a Night Fury and it happens to be his favorite character in the film. It tasted yummy with whipped icing.

Can't believe the Crisp Baby has turned 5. Time just keeps on flying by. Love this little guy!

Fly In Cruise In 2010

We visited the Fly In Cruise In at the Marion airport with Kristi's family. The kids were given a helicopter ride from Dwight Ott so they were super pumped about that! Otherwise, it was just a super WINDY day of pancakes and planes.

State Fair '10 - The Year of the Pig!

We were able to visit the State Fair this year. This year's theme celebrated pigs and as you might have guessed Madison was pretty excited to learn this so she could enjoy their decorations. Here is the pig that greeted us upon entry.

My kids just love this exhibit. It teaches kids what it takes to be a farmer on a very small scale. They have to milk a cow, plant seeds, pull the crops, ride the tractor, etc. Here is Noah picking his crop from the vegetable garden.

The children are given "money" for their crops once they take them to market. They exchange their farm money for a treat. This year Noah chose a granola bar and Madison chose cold applesauce.

Many go to the fair for the food. This year a couple of the highlights (that we did not try) were deep fried butter (which people said tasted like french toast) and Crispy Cream had a hamburger station where they used doughnuts as the buns. No thanks, but it was interesting.

Entering the 3rd Grade

We had a birthday this summer. Madison celebrates turning 8 with another pink pig birthday theme party. What can I say? This girl loves her pink and pigs!
It was quite fun this year that she was able to read all of her birthday cards aloud and by herself.

Noah Graduates from Pre-School

Although Noah will not be old enough to enter Kindergarten next year he will advance to a Kinder prep class at Good Shepherd. Here are a few shots of his graduation ceremony.

This is Noah's best friend, Hayden. Hayden will be moving on to Kindergarten next year so Noah will be looking for a new buddy at school.

When asked what he wants to be when he grows up he yells, "A rockstar!" and strums his air guitar. That's our Noah!

You all know that we are not really that far from Christmas and if you follow the blog you know about the fun new toys the kids have gotten.

Want to know how Noah spent his day? Cleaning.

He really wanted the dinosaur, but at the end of the day he is pretty handy with a sweeper. Yes, he actually asks if he can clean.

I'm not complaining, but this is an interesting activity for a kid, don't you think?

I am not willing to hire him out just yet. He'll make a good hubby someday.

Welcome to the Crisp house! Merry Christmas everyone! Wanted to give you a peek at our eight trees this year.

This is the red and gold tree we put in our master bedroom. I just love a red and gold tree.

This is our pastry themed tree we put in the dining room. These are new decorations this year and I am really enjoying them. Very fun and different.

This is our HUGE new addition. She is 12 feet in size and is a monster statement in our front entry.

This is our candy themed tree for the kitchen. The kids really enjoy this one.

This is the red, black and silver tree we added to the landing last year. Really looks pretty from the outside of the house.

This is our living room fruit tree. Had her for awhile but still really enjoy the way she shines.

This is Madison's pink pig tree. Yes, there are small pig lights to match the big pig light.

And this is number eight. Noah's metallic silver toy themed tree. He uses it as a night light.

Noah Turns Four!
And parties with Batman. Here are a few pictures from his birthday celebration. I can't believe my little buddy is four but here we are.

Noah received some fun gifts including Legos, play dough, tee ball set and a scooter.

It was raining outside and Noah decided to stick his head under the dripping rain just before the party started so that's why his head is wet.

Madison helped Noah read all the birthday cards this year. That was kind of fun!

We ate pizza, cake and ice cream - sounds like a birthday party to me. :)

Happy Birthday to Noah! We are so glad to have him as part of our family. Who wouldn't love a kid with a smile like that?

A Good Week for the Crisp Kids

Lions, Tigers, Bears, Oh my!

So the first day of school starts for the Crisp crew tomorrow so we thought we would make the most from our last day of summer.

We decided on the Ft. Wayne zoo for our family FUN day. Here are a few shots from our outing. To see more check out Kristi's facebook page.

The Ft. Wayne zoo just added an African safari exhibit this year and it was really fun. We give it two thumbs up.

The zoo is a nice size - not too big and not too small. We could get through the zoo without wearing the kids out and you know that makes everyone happy. Enjoy a few of our family pictures.

Tomorrow...Madison officially enters the 2nd grade. Oh boy!

What's stopping you?

We have been telling Madison all summer that the training wheels were coming off her bike and it was time for her to ride without. Each time we were met with tears and pleading to just leave them there. Madison had a fear of getting hurt. She did not want to try something new because she knew change meant the possibility of bumps and bruises.

Much to her dismay we finally took them off. She was forced to get out there and live a little. With some direction she learned quickly how to stop herself without falling and before she knew (literally within in an hour) she was turning, stopping, and really enjoying her new found skill.

So what's stopping you from trying that something new in your life? Do you find yourself pleading, "No, don't make me change just yet. I might get hurt so I'd like to just keep things the way they are." Are you truly living life?

Madison learned a valuable lesson and all of our neighbors have noticed and come to talk to her about it. She glows with pride.

Don't miss out. Try something new. And just like Madison...

You'll probably make it far on your first try and if not you'll learn that the bumps and bruises you fear aren't as bad as you might think.

Congratulations Madison! We are so very proud of you!

Sleep Over Fun!

So the kiddos asked if they could have a sleep over - with each other. They wanted to sleep in the same room. Paul set-up the air mattress for them and got them settled in. Here are a few pictures from the sleep over.

I quit taking pictures after Noah started to pretend pick his nose for a laugh in the pictures. Don't you just love it? Where does he get these things. He's only three can you imagine what sixteen is going to be like for us?

The Little Garden that Could

We are a tomato eating family. We love them cooked, we love them off the vine, we love them mixed with other things, and we love to grow our own.

Last year we planted two tomato plants and by fall we were beginning to grow tired of our friend the tomato so this year we decided maybe one plant would do.

We went to the store as family, picked out our beloved plant (added in some cilantro because we really like to eat salsa) and took it home to plant it in our small garden spot.

We cared for our little plants growing them and longing for the day we would be able to pick the fruits of our efforts.

Interestingly enough something began to happen in our little garden and before we knew it seven tomato plants had popped up. How did that happen? The only thing we can think of is that some of those tomatoes we didn't get picked in time at the end of the season planted their seed in our wonderful soil.

We are going to have tomatoes running out our ears. Oh dear!

Today our first tomato was ready for picking. Yum-O! This will be the first of many for us this year because there is just no way we can get through seven plants at a time.

We'll be sharing with friends, family, and neighbors.

I am not the canning kind. My grandparents did, my mom did, but man, helping them was about as much fun as I would like to have. So, I was wondering do you have any good suggestions for the tomatoes in our future?

Madison turns SEVEN! That's reason to celebrate. Grandmom Avery made Madison's birthday cake. She wanted to celebrate with The Littlest Pet Shop.

Here are some highlights from party. She really likes headbands because she can do her own hair so she got a good array of colors to go with most of her outfits.

This was the first year Madison could read her birthday cards completely by herself. She did a wonderful job!

Sleep Over

Noah is often the first to wake up at our house. Often it is too early to be starting the day so we ask him to go back to bed. Most of the time he listens and then there are days when we find out what he really has been doing. This is one of those days when he got caught. I woke up to find him asleep on the stairs. I took the pictures and he slept through the whole thing. Just couldn't quite make it back up the stairs to his bedroom. : ) This cracked me up and I thought it might bring a smile to you too.

The First Swim of Summer

Summer has finally arrived and my kids like to celebrate this occasion with breaking out the swimming pool and taking a dip. Below you will see that the water was pretty chilly. Neither kiddo was expecting this.

Finally they get use to water temperature enough that they can pose for the camera and Madison is not afraid to soak up a few rays. Both kids enjoyed themselves and walked away with sunburns, but both will tell you it was worth it. When can we do that again?

Muncie Children's Museum

We were able to make a family trip to the Children's Museum in Muncie Memorial weekend. Here are a few highlights from our trip. Noah was pretty excited to see the dinosaurs, but when we got there they had recordings of dinosaur noises and he decided he wasn't a big fan.

New Living Furniture

We had a couple nice days in a row in April so we tried our hand at kite flying. Paul gets us started.

Okay, he'll try his now. Unfortunately his turtle doesn't fly as well as the owl.

Hunting for EGGS!

We went to the Avery side early this year for Easter. The rain and cold did not discourage us from a good egg hunt. So here are a few highlights of the kids finding their eggs. There were 60 plus eggs and we hid them all in the living room.

Makayla begins the hunt first. She is the youngest so we had to give her a fighting chance.

And then Noah is next in line. As you can see he rather enjoyed searching for his eggs.

After the egg hunt it was time to get Easter baskets. Noah got a semi-automatic Batman gun. Every little boy's dream!

And of course, big sister can't wait for her basket so she helps Noah unpack his.

There were new bath towels to go round. Makayla and Noah model their new towels for you. What good friends they are.

There are always a few "fun" toys too. Here Noah models his new mouth gear for you.

And finally Madison gets to rip into her basket. Lots of fun stuff to go round.

It's official -- Madison has now pulled the last of her front teeth. This is her new smile as of tonight.

This hard work did not come without its share of tears, but there is always giggling and high fiving once it is over.

Noah tries out soccer!

Noah had his very first soccer practice. This will be the first sport he has tried, but I think he will enjoy it. Today was his first practice - rain and all. Here are a few shots from his practice.

Here he is getting his uniform for game days. He plays with other 3 and 4 year olds at Lakeview Wesleyan Church in their Upward Soccer program. His team name is Lil Lightning and after today's rainy practice that seems appropriate.

Madison's school was cancelled today because of the extreme cold weather we are having. Since I had a whole day to play with the kiddos I thought we should do something fun. The FUN we chose today was making cupcakes. Thought you might like to see a bit of the process.

Madison's New Digs

Finally, Madison's new bedroom furniture has arrived! We moved her into a full size bed and her twin-size bedroom furniture is now in Noah's room. Since Madison has two closets in her room, one for clothes and one for toys, we opted for a desk so she has a place to get homework done. Yes, first graders do have homework. For Madison it is every night except Friday. It was the same in Kindergarten. (Note: Madison is giving herself and Noah bunny ears.)

A big event happened this week in the lives of the Crisps. Paul's dad, John, is in the advanced stages of Parkinsons. On Tuesday John had neurological brain surgery where stimulants were inserted in his brain in order to combat some of the side effects from the disease. As you can see from the above picture John had to where a halo as part of the procedure. John was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon. PTL! The doctors are positive about his outcome, but will not test the stimulants until John has time to heal. Ask God to make the stimulants work and that John will find some relief from this disease. Thanks!

Bath Time Fun

Rub-a-dub-dub, having fun in the tub!

Noah got a new submarine in his stocking from Grandmom and Papaw Avery.

It actually cruises around the tub and as you can see Noah is pretty proud of his new bath toy.

Both Madison and Noah got colored foam soap and this is what Noah decided to do with his soap. You can't tell from the picture too well but his soap is actually a light blue.

Madison enjoys taking a shower these days.
She screamed for me to come into the bathroom and this (below) is what I found.
She said it is a picture of me (Kristi) and I have a bow in my hair.
I think I have a creative artist on my hands.

They had 6 kids and all of those kids had kids and now many of us grand kids have kids of our own.

Noah took my make-up bag and hid in the closet today while I was talking on the phone. This is what he looked like when I found him. He thought he was in big trouble, but it is really hard to scold a little boy with a face like this. I laughed and then thought pictures would be a good payback. Noah said cheese every time I took his picture but he didn't smile this time around. Thought you all would enjoy the laugh I had today.

The Day with Makayla

Peru: The Fun Stuff

What happens in Peru, Stay in Peru....or not.

The trip I (Kristi) made to Peru, South America in November was truly an awesome time, however if you know anything about my department at all you know that we like to play as hard as we like to work. The entire trip was filled with practical jokes.

From guinea pig showing up in front of people's bedroom doors, to tying bedroom doors shut, to even hang one's underwear out as a welcome sign and there was that four hours we spent in the pouring rain touring Machu Pichu. Part of the blessing of any trip is the fun stuff your team experiences, but hardly presents in public arenas. I love my job! I am still working at World Gospel Mission as the Director of Ideas in Motion. I also took over the Editor of The Call, WGM's bi-monthly magazine, this year. It is going through a season of change, but I am happy with the results. It's been hard work, but life isn't interesting without a fair share of challenges.

We are all looking forward to some rest, relaxation, and family time during Christmas. I trust you will be blessed with all of those things too! Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Madison loves pigs!!! Joyce, one of the copy editors in my office, bought me this pig for Christmas and it is made to clean the computer screen. Thank you Joyce. You made my family smile.

Paul continues to work at WIWU TV 51 as the TV Station Manager. He loves his job and as you can see from these pictures he still works on the side for World Gospel Mission editing promotional videos. Currently, he is working on the field promotional for the WGM field of St. Croix. St. Croix sounds pretty good on days like today when it is a whopping 16 degrees in Indiana.

Early Christmas Presents

Yes, Virginia I Do Believe...

Early Christmas presents rock! I wanted to share with you a few early presents we have received this year.

Madison is loving first grade. She has learned how to read and has developed a love for it that I can only hope she keeps. She has also started word problems in math that have been a pretty regular homework assignment for her. Out of all the spelling tests she has finished this year she has only missed one word - period. I think that deserves a big high five. She has lost not one, but two teeth. Both bottom middle teeth are missing in action although her "grown-up" teeth are growing quickly, her Papaw still kids that she shouldn't eat spaghetti because it will just slide back out.

Noah has fully healed from his hand surgery last November. Although the hope was to get more mobility out of the pinky finger by loosening up the tendon from the bone the pinky remains straight with no function to him at all. Noah will head for a check up in January and the possibility of more surgery is just around the corner. Noah started Pre-school and that has given him a serious jump start to his vocabulary. We had Noah tested earlier because he simply wasn't talking understandably and we thought something might be wrong. Turns out he just needed to be around kids his own age for awhile and now the conversations never end. And that's a good thing. Recently we took Noah to the doctor to have, in his words, "his spots" checked out. Turns out he has eczema and now gets rubbed down in vasoline a couple times a day. He says, "spots all gone".

Avery Family Gathering: Thanksgiving and Christmas

As is family tradition, the Avery's have their Christmas celebration together during Thanksgiving weekend. This year was crazy!!!

We needed to have Christmas the evening of Black Friday. The ladies headed out at 4 a.m., finished their shopping, wrapping, and had Christmas by 7 p.m. that evening. Talk about a whirlwind weekend!

I wanted to share with you a few photos from our evening together. There is nothing like seeing Christmas through the eyes of our children. Noah got to open the first present of the night.

Makayla thinks her new toy is just her size. Who would want to push her baby doll around when she could be pushed while holding her baby? I think she is on to something here.

The Pilgrims and the Indians

I was able to have a Thanksgiving lunch with Noah today. The children made hats. Some where pilgrims and our little Noah was an Indian. We had yummy turkey and pumpkin pie. The pumpkin pie was Noah's favorite. I thought you might enjoy seeing our little Indian.

Christmas is just around the corner and our household is looking forward to the craziness that is black Friday. All of us get up early to join the discounted price hunt. We wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends and happy hunting to those of you joining the Friday hunt.

How Majestic is His Name in All the Earth

Majestic was about the only word that I can use to describe the view at Machu Picchu.

Our group had a tour guy, Miguel, explained to us how the Incas worshiped knowledge. They were developing modern technologies to shape the rocks, but also to predict the weather and much more. Unfortunately, the Incas forgot about the One who brought them into being so that they could learn. This place was magnificent way before the Incas began building a community on this mountain.

I was reminded that our God is so wonderfully creative. I was able to enjoy His creation very much that day. Now, I am very afraid of heights so being on top of a mountain was not the easiest thing I have ever done in my life. But, comfort zones are overrated, right? Machu Picchu is definitely worth being rated one of the new seven wonders of the world. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I am blessed to have seen it.

Looking Over the City

Cristo Blanco

The white Christ seems to be a very popular figure in South America culture. Paul and I have a picture of one in Honduras as well. We drove up to the mountain to where the Christ looks over the city to shoot an interview with Edwardo and Maritza, the founds of the National Church.

The Christ is near some Inca ruins, but that was the first of many we would experience on our trip.

You can see a picture here of Nancy (in the red shirt) who wrote the interview questions and Tom Johnson our video guy.

Ann Seaney translated the interview questions for us so that Maritza and Edwardo could complete the interview.

While the interview took place many of us explored the surroundings. There were llamas just below the side of this ledge and Rachel got real close to one. Also, there were ladies walking around with llama pets and traditional dress. They would like to paid for a picture.

Lindsey, our photographer, got some great shots during our trip. We will be using these in photos in the field brochure and missionary posters.

There is something to be said about having a Christ overlooking your city. The dominant religion in Cusco is Catholic. I was able to visit a Catholic Church while on the square. They were taking communion and the church was very ornate. It is a very different service from what I am used to, a lot of singing, and a lot of crossing. We did not take any photos at the church because they asked us not to.

Just another day at the office...or not.

Today was filled with video shoots with David and Cathlene Strong. We are going to use their interviews in a field video. Tom Johnson is shooting the video, Nancy Shuman is conducting the interview and Rachel is subbing as a handy grip while she gains information for stories she will write.

Tracy Dubois is updating the field's web pages while we are here. Today she is working on
interesting cultural tidbits. Here is an interesting
note about Peru - they place ceramic bulls and metal crosses on their roofs to gain to ward off evil spirits and
to ask for more prosperity.

Lindsey Hawk is shooting the field's digital photography during this trip. We will use the photos for the World Gospel Mission website and for general prmotional needs.

I am updating field information, keeping you all up-to-date on our responsibilites and
responsding to e-mail requests.

Joyce Benbow is transcribing David Strong's video interview. Transcribing means she is typing out the conversation for others to use and for Tom to pull from easier in the video editing process.

Pat Sebree is not feeling so great. The altitude is really effecting her today so she is taking it easy. We are all thankful the missionaries have oxygen tanks to help ease her symptoms.

The Strong's and Ann Seaney will
be taking us to a dinner theatre and buffet tonight for dinner. We are looking forward to this cultural experience. I should be able to post some of those pictures for us tomorrow.

This afternoon we are headed to a plaza sort of like a town square to shoot video interviews with the National Church founders. Our missionaries work alongside the National Church and its pastors.

The Best Part of Waking Up...

So, this is the view from the Daudi and Cathlene Strong's roof top. Yes, this is definately not Indiana. I woke up to the sounds of roosters this morning and thought where am I and then figured out that this is definately not home. The mountains are beautiful!

There are houses you can see for miles and miles. Buildings are very close to one another. You can see below that this is one of their neighbors do their morning hand washing.

The flights coming into the airport go right over the Strongs house. Here is a picture I took of one of the planes while I was enjoying the view.

And yet one more thing you don't see in Indiana every day. This is another neighbor. Do you see the McCall just sitting on the ladder. This is a pet and I was impressed that it did not need to be caged. Just another day in Peru! More pictures later...

Travel and Arrival

TRAVEL

This is the Ideas in Motion team leaving from Indianapolis on our way to Cusco, Peru in South America. Our flights were all thorugh the night so we actually arrive in Peru on Tuesday morning early.

There is no time change in Peru, however the altitude is much greater than home so we get tired easy. Just walking upstairs and taking a shower is a challenge.

We had a special guest at dinner this evening. In Peru they are known as cui, however you know this creature as the guinea pig. It is served in here in Peru, however we did not eat this little guy tonight, We just kept him aroung for fun. Daudi, Cathlene, and Ann are taking us to a buffet tomorrow night where we will get to taste this kind of food if we choose.

Well, this is just the first day and we weren't here the whole day so tomorrow is jammed pack with video interviews, writing, and photography. I'll post more tomorrow. We are safe, we have all of our luggage, and we are all ready for bed.

Peru or Bust

Peru, South America

My bags are packed and my jet plane leaves in the morning. I (Kristi) have the once and a lifetime opportunity to visit Peru. I will be taking my department to serve as a media support to this new World Gospel Mission field.

We are going to do what we do day-in and day-out, but in Peru for this small missionary team. Both David and Cathleen Strong and Ann Seaney are due to return to the states next year for Homeland Missionary Assignment so the updated ministry information will be of great help to them. The team will be in Peru for about a week and while we are there we will get to take a couple days to visit Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu, one of the 7 wonders of the world, is known for as "The Lost City of the Incas".

Pray for my team. There is 8 of us going and travel can be complicated. Pray that we will be a blessing to the missionary team and that we can tell their stories well.

I'll try to keep you updated along the journey.

Welcome to First Grade

Life with a 1st Grader...

This is it - Madison's first grade picture. This picture is significant in the game of life because this will be her last picture with all of her baby teeth. She lost her first tooth the afternoon after this picture was taken. Her "grown-up" tooth is now making its way to the surface and we get a regular report on what teeth are loose now.

Madison is loving school and doing great. At least we think. : ) We are due for parent teach conferences next week so her teacher will fill us in on all the fun details. So far she hasn't missed a word on her spelling test and judging from her math homework, addition and subtraction seem pretty easy for her. That seems like half the battle. Madison has a dream of becoming a veterinarian even when she was told that would take 7 years of school it didn't seem to phase her. Who knows, some day you could be taking your sick pets to Dr. Madison.

Noah's 3rd Birthday

We waited to have Noah's birthday party until the weekend, but we wanted to celebrate on the day he was born so we sang to him and watched him blow out candles for his BIG 3.

Poof! They are out in nothing flat.

Noah chose to have a Thomas the Train party.

Noah can spend hours playing with his Thomas trains.

What 3 year old has a laptop? Noah now has a Thomas one - its educational!

There were plenty of smiles to go round.

Madison picked out a new train for his track and he was sooo excited.

Paul and I got him a new bicycle and then spent the rest of the weekend teaching him how to ride.

Grandpa and Grandma Crisp got Noah a helmet and pads for his present.

We have to take care of our precious cargo.

For Madison's 6th birthday she chose to celebrate with pink poodles. Who is surprised, right? If there is pink involved she's all about it. : )

It was a day filled with Littlest Pet Shop, horses and one of her favs a mommy pink poodle to match her baby pink poodle webkinz.

Catching up with the Crisps this Summer

What has the Crisp Family been up to this summer?

To begin with we purchased a new vehicle (Acura MDX) which you saw Paul has installed DVD players for the kids in an earlier post. We determined our "vacation" for the summer would be camping however, after our first outing we once again spent the weekend in rain and we realized our little pop-up needed an upgrade so here is the before:

And this is the after with our new Jayfeather. At least the kids have their own beds and the hard sides were a must since the rain, lightning, and thunder kept us up in the other camper. We have taken several trips and have enjoyed our family time outings.

July 4th Camping

HAPPY 4th of JULY!

This was our first outing after getting our new camper. We were able to spend a week at Mississinewa Reservoir with a big part of my mom's family. There over 40 of us camping together. That's a bunch of people!

The slide out on the end of the camper is a queen size bed where Paul and I sleep. On the opposite end there are bunk beds for the munchkins.

Our camper has a really nice feature - our awning is electric so we only have to push a button for it to roll out or in.

No camping trip is complete without a little fun n' the sun. The kids are enjoying the kiddie pool with some second cousins and friends of the family. The parents decided a kiddie pool on our site seemed a bit more reasonable than taking all these little ones to the beach.

Our Trip to the Zoo

Lions, tigers, and bears - oh my!

Our family made time to enjoy the Ft. Wayne zoo over the weekend.

It was so much fun! Thought you might like to see a little from our experience.

Madison loves horses so she was so thrilled that she was

greeted by one just after entering the gate.

Mom and Dad mentioned that they did not have a picture with both of them and all the grand kids together so we made sure we took care of that. There was a splash pool for kids to play in and this was one of the animals by the pool. It's not easy being green.

We saw an exhibit of penguins from South Africa.
Did you know there were penguins in South Africa? I didn't.
Apparently they like the heat, but as you can see there was one little guy swimming in the water.

Thoughts from Madison's Momma

We all have goals - you know those things in life you really want to achieve. Growing up I really liked the idea of achieving straight A's, but I never really wanted to work hard enough to achieve that level of greatness. Chalk it up to being a social butterfly! Grades came fairly easy for me so I knew that I would do above passing so I never disciplined myself to achieve that next level.

Someone in my family has though and I wanted to share that GREAT news with you. Madison brought home her third semester report card and it is PERFECT. I think that rocks! Madison is incredibly smart and enjoys learning. If she keeps that mind frame I can only imagine what God might call her to do.

Right now though she is leaning toward veterinarian. I know she is only 5 but she thinks 8 years of school doesn't sound so bad. Trust me - she did not get that from her momma. : )

Crisp Parent's House Fire

Last night around 11PM, Paul's parent's house caught on fire. Likely caused by a lighting strike, they never knew anything was wrong until the smoke alarm started going off. When they went into the kitchen they found the microwave on fire and immediately called 911. Fortunately, Dad, Shirley & Candy (dog) were able to get out of the house with no problems and since the Fire Department is just around the corner, they got there in just a few minutes. Obviously, the damage is pretty bad so they will be unable to live here for a month or two.

Let me hear you say YEAH MADISON! Here a few pictures from her recent games. She cheers for other kindergartners learning to play basketball. Turns out her coach had too many conflicts with the program schedule and I am the new cheer coach. I am enjoying this new ministry and the girls are great. They get sidetracked easy so it is hard to keep them focused on just cheering but it's proving to be a ton of fun!

Ginger and Luke gave Noah this Cars racer and he refused to open any other gifts after he got this. Do you know of a kid who does not want to open more presents? He sit quietly in the corner and kept racing. He still loves it. Thanks Gin and Luke!

We were lucky to have Grandpa with us this year. He was just out of the hospital and quite tired but he spent some time with all us hoodlums any way. Aren't they sweet?

Christmas with Mom and Dad Crisp

This year we had the Crisp Christmas on Christmas afternoon.
We were thrilled to spend a little time with Uncle Phil along with John and Shirley.

Christmas with Mom and Dad Avery

Christmas at the Avery's is on Christmas Eve every year. Our tradition is a dinner with steamed crab legs, cheddar biscuits, and this year Dad through in a little shrimp scampi too. Thanks to Mom and Dad for hosting us every year.

Makayla gets the party started in her Santa hat.

These two take a moment to give us a quick pose with Santa Mickey.
Grandma decorated her tree with cartoon characters this year and the kids were thrilled to touch all the fun decorations.

Mickey has been good this year and Noah felt like he needed a hug.

Think she likes her Leapster? The face gives it away! We have barely seen her without it since she opened it. And Noah gets his own set of tools. Paul was tired of sharing his tools with Noah. (We found them scattered all through the house.) So, when Mom and Dad asked if this would be a good choice Paul jumped at the chance.

Uncle Scott and Aunt Jen got Madison and Noah a race track. That's the first toy to be played with every morning. Uncle Scott "shows" Noah how to race. Who's having more fun?

What's Christmas like at our house?

Well, it's filled with pajamas and bed head, but as Madison shows you below the excitement of opening gifts is quite entertaining.

What's Christmas without a little juice? Noah and Madison live for breakfast but on Christmas morning even breakfast waits until all the gifts are opened and played with a little. Noah needed a little hydration though to keep going. : )

Noah's big gift this year was Thomas the train tracks. Madison and Noah play with his set every day and even Daddy gets in on the fun Christmas morning! By the way, Madison received a digital camera and she shot over 200 pictures at just Grandma and Grandpa Avery's house.

We trust you had a lovely Christmas too as we celebrated the birth of our Savior.

Let's hear it for my CHEERLEADER!

Madison has started a new sport this winter. It's UpWard cheer leading and these are shots from her first practice. Can you imagine 6 Kindergartners getting their cheer on for the first time? Quite entertaining!!!

Madison is a natural! Below you will see her with her coach, Miss Stephanie. Her team name is the Angels quite fitting I would say. She is stoked about having a megaphone and pom-poms. I'll be posting pictures of her first game in the new year. For now we can send cheers of encouragement to Madison for trying something new and liking it!
